Amédée Alléon’un (1838 - 1904) doğum ve ölüm yeri İstanbul’dur.
Bu kitap Boğaziçi, Bakırköy, Yeşilköy ve Marmara havzasında yaka-
ladığı kuşlar ve bunların konservasyonu ile ilgili bilgiler içeren ente-
resan ve nadir bir eserdir. Eserde taksidermi (teşhir amacıyla hayvan
doldurma) bilimindeki yeni uygulamalara da yer vermektedir. Yaza-
rın koleksiyon yapmak amacıyla topladığı ve daha sonra içini dol-
durduğu kuşlara ait büyük bir bölümü tam sayfa olan 132 fotoğraf
kitabın ana eksenini oluşturmaktadır. Alléon, çalışmalarından ötürü,
Mecidiye Nişanı da dahil olmak üzere pek çok ödül kazanmış önemli
bir bilim insanıdır. Türkiye’nin ornitolojisi hakkında Türkçe kaynakla-
rın çok az olması bu çalışmanın değerini arttırmaktadır.

der Aa (Leiden 1659-1733) daha çok harita ve atlasları ile tanınan Fe-
lemenk yayıncıdır. Müzayedelerimizde ilk defa görülmektedir.
